CBK adheres to the belief that safety practices should never be sacrificed for production, but rather considered an integral part of quality control, cost reduction, and job efficiency. Every supervisor is responsible for his or her team’s adherence to safety protocol.
CBK has achieved a high level of safety consciousness and is proud of its achievement in accident prevention. However, as long as the possibility exists for even one person to suffer injury or illness, we must continue to strive for improvement. Our policy is to accomplish work in the safest possible manner, consistent with good work practices.
CBK is committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment through consistent adherence to CBK Construction’s Safety Program and by promoting employee participation and ownership of OSHA’s safety requirements.
Job sites are regularly inspected to ensure:
• Employees are wearing hard hats and other required safety gear.
• Fall protection equipment is being used when necessary.
• Guard railings are in place for scaffolding equipment and leading edge work.
• Barricades are noticeable and of the appropriate size.
• GFCI protection and condition of electrical cords meet standards.
• Debris and other trip hazards are removed daily to maintain orderly and safe job sites.
We conduct frequent site inspections of all subcontractors to ensure they are in compliance with all MI-OSHA standards. In addition, all subcontractors are required to have their own safety programs.
CBK trains its employees in the use of forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, and other heavy equipment used on job sites. Weekly maintenance is performed on all of CBK Construction’s vehicles.
CBK Construction provides first aid and adult CPR training to all employees. This certification is renewed annually.
All CBK Construction job site trailers are equipped with first aid kits and other safety equipment such as fire extinguishers and water coolers. Federal and state safety guidelines are posted, and our Safety Consultant regularly visits to ensure the trailers are well equipped and maintained.
All employees are required to attend weekly meetings in order to review safety practices, including training, injury prevention, and accident reporting procedures.
Supervisors are trained to enforce the drug testing policy and to administer alcohol tests to ensure that no employee is under the influence while on the job. Drug screening takes place prior to employment, following any accident, and randomly.
CBK Construction employees are furnished with hard hats and safety glasses, mandatory items on all job sites. Hearing protection, dust masks, high-visibility shirts and vests, and other specialized pieces of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are provided when necessary.
